How Long Does The Procedure Take?
Radioembolization Y-91 takes about an hour and a half to complete. During the procedure, an interventional radiologist will put a catheter into a blood vessel in your groin. Then, they will thread it up through the bloodstream to the liver tumor. This can be done using X-rays or an ultrasound machine to track their progress.

The procedure is performed by inserting a catheter through the femoral artery that emits yttrium-90, a radioactive isotope, into the liver tumor or obstruction. For patients with unresectable liver cancer, the cost of Y-91 Radioembolization is $12,500. The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis and takes one day to complete. It may require a few days of hospitalization if you have significant medical problems or other underlying conditions.
