Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remake And Mafia Trilogy Games Have Been Announced

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater

A remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 and a remaster of the Mafia trilogy have been announced this week as part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2  was announced earlier this week by Activision following a series of leaks which dropped just ahead of the game’s official announcement. The two games, which originally released back in 1999 and 2000, will be remade entirely for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

As part of the announcement, a trailer of the remake was released which provided additional details of the collection. The game will feature updated visuals with 4K support and it will include all locations, modes, and most music from the original two games.

What’s more, the collection will feature the original cast of characters including Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Bob Burnquist, Geoff Rowley, Kareem Campbell, Bucky Lasek, Andrew Reynolds, and Elissa Steamer. It will also reportedly include a new online multiplayer mode which allows players to skate with friends as well as the return of the create-a-park mode where users can create and share custom parks.

Ahead of the game’s official announcement, Tony Hawk was reportedly sending people texts about the remaster. One text read: “Hey I have a surprise and I wanted to tell you first. We are bringing back Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2! Original maps, original skaters and songs from the original soundtrack, plus new features! The game looks awesome and will be officially announced soon.”

The game will be made by Vicarious Visions, the developers behind the 2017 Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remake, and will release September 4th 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, and as an Epic Games exclusive on PC.

The Mafia Trilogy

Also this week, 2K Games and Hangar announced that the Mafia series will be releasing as a complete trilogy. The original Mafia games released in 2002, 2010, and 2016 on different console generations and the new collection will bring them all together on current platforms.

The trilogy was announced in a short video which teased a future full game announcement. The teaser included footage of characters from the three games and revealed that the trilogy will be launching on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Reports from Eurogamer reveal that remakes of Mafia and its sequel Mafia II will be released later this year individually rather than as a single collection with Mafia III. The reports state that the original Mafia will launch in August and the sequel later this month. Nothing has been said about the third game which is already available on current platforms.

However, until this is officially announced by 2K and Hangar, it should all be taken with a grain of salt. Luckily, we don’t have long to wait for an official announcement as more about the trilogy should be revealed on May 19th. Check back later for more details.
