Microsoft Announces New Games In Digital Xbox Series X Event

Microsoft hosted its digital Xbox Series X gameplay event in which Microsoft announced a slew of new video games and gameplay footage. 

The event included information on the new Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla which was announced last week, as well as announcements of new video games. Everything featured at the event will be playable on the current Xbox One and optimised for the upcoming Xbox Series X console too. Take a look at all the games revealed at the event below:

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla was announced last week and follows Viking Eivor who embarks on a quest for glory in a brutal yet dynamic open world set in England. The game will include familiar Assassin’s Creed gameplay including sea travel, the Hidden Blade, battles, and more, as well as new gameplay which involves building settlements and raiding enemies. 

Bright Memory: Infinite

Bright Memory: Infinite is a first-person action-shooter which is set in a futuristic city in 2036. The game follows Shelia, a member of the Supernatural Science Research Organisation (SRO) who is sent to investigate a strange phenomenon that is tied to an ancient mystery.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the latest instalment in the Yakuza series and was released in Japan for the PS4. The game will launch worldwide later this year and come to all platforms including the Xbox Series X. The game follows ex-prisoner Ichiban Kasuga who is shot and wakes up in the Yokohama fictional district of Isezaki Ijincho.

Dirt 5

Dirt 5 is a brand new racing game focusing on off-road racing. The game is the 14th instalment in the Colin McRae Rally or Dirt franchise and will include new special features as well as jaw-dropping realistic graphics.

Scarlet Nexus

Scarlet Nexus is a story-driven animated game which takes place in the future where people possess psionic abilities. The game follows Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit of the Other Suppression Force (OSF), who explores the city of New Himuka and must uncover a strange mystery while being hunted by deranged mutants known as Others who thirst for human brains. 

Scorn

Scorn is a first-person horror shooter in which players are thrown into a nightmarish and unfamiliar world and must fight to escape. The game draws inspiration from H.R. Giger and is set in a world in which every location has its own story, puzzles, and characters. 

The Medium

The Medium is a psychological horror video game in which you play as Marianne, a medium living between the real and spirit world. Marianne’s visions lead her to an abandoned hotel in Krakow where a terrible tragedy occurred. Players must solve the mystery by accessing both worlds for a wider perspective of what actually happened. 

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a sequel to the 2004 game Vampire: The Masquerade. The game follows a human from the 21st century in Seattle who is killed and revived as a vampire with weak abilities. The game will be played in first-person and feature branching narrative. 

Call Of The Sea

Call Of The Sea is an adventure and puzzle game set in the 1930s. Played in first-person, the game follows Norah who, while searching for her missing husband, finds herself on a strange island filled with mysteries and puzzles. 

Chorvs

Chorvs is a space-flight combat shooter which follows pilot Nara and her sentient starfighter Forsaken. The pair embark on a dark and dangerous journey of redemption which involves space-stations, trading hubs, ancient temples, and strange planets. 

The Ascent

The Ascent is a solo and co-op action RPG set in a strange metropolis filled with weird creatures from across the galaxy. As the game begins, the corporation that owns everything and everyone, The Ascent Group, mysteriously shuts down and players are left to fend for themselves while uncovering what happened. 

As mentioned, all games will be available for the Xbox One and optimised for the upcoming Xbox Series X console. No release dates have been confirmed but the games will reportedly come out between this Holiday season and 2021. Stay tuned for more.
