1. Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019)
The Resident Evil 2 remake was announced with a simple tweet and a photo a few years ago, without much noise. It wasn’t until E3 2018 when Capcom launched it just a few months later (as happened with Resident Evil 7).
The result has been spectacular. It has all the ingredients of a classic video game Resident Evil, with reduced spaces in which zombies harass us, puzzles and survival, but with the control and the camera in the style of Resident Evil 4, adapted to the new times.
The visual section of the heart attack also comes with improvement. It has excellent lighting thanks to the use of the RE Engine. It’s a remake of an old game. It is perhaps the most beloved installment in the saga, so we are delighted. If you like horror and suspense games, you have to play Resident Evil 2 Remake!
2. Persona 5 (2017) – [PS4 Exclusive]
Persona 5 is the best Japanese-style RPG that you will find in the console catalog. Therefore, it could not be missing in our top PS4 games. Created by the prestigious P Studio of Atlus after a very long development, Persona 5 represents a new quality ceiling for this saga so loved in Japan. It manages to attract the curiosity of a large number of new players in the West.
With this JRPG, you have hundreds of hours of history ahead, with a group of main characters full of charisma and that you will gradually get to know while developing your social skills and links with them. Persona 5 is a half social simulator and half dungeon crawler. On the one hand, you have to lead the life of an average high school student, and on the other, explore dangerous dungeons full of monsters to put the world back in order.
3. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (2015)
After months of a tug-of-war between the guru Hideo Kojima and Konami, the creator left the company in 2015, but not before leaving us a true masterpiece. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for PS4 arrived in September 2015 as one of the most anticipated games in recent years. Although its script did not satisfy all players, the game automatically positioned itself as the zenith of infiltration games and one of the best installments in the saga.
Kojima brought infiltration games into an open world environment in which the player had complete freedom to carry out his missions, leaving us full creativity to do what we wanted. A flourish for an essential saga in video game history.
4. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019) – [PS4 Exclusive]
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for PS4 is one of the great masterpieces of the PS4 catalog. It is one step beyond From Software after everything learned with Bloodborne and the Souls saga. This shinobi game takes action and stealth as pillars, setting itself in the darkest version of feudal Japan you can imagine and putting ourselves in the shoes of a fallen warrior who seeks redemption by finding his master. To do this, we will have to face a significant challenge with the help of our hook and our katana, overcoming huge obstacles and nightmare bosses.
It is a great game, but its difficulty is not for all types of players since it can become an impassable wall for less skillful players. If this is not your case and you are one of those who enjoy overcoming unattainable challenges, get it as soon as possible.
5. Uncharted 4: The Thief’s End (2016) – [PS4 Exclusive]
Naughty Dog managed to dismiss one of his most iconic creations. They did it with Uncharted 4 for PS4, an exclusive adventure for the Sony console that gamers had been waiting for for years. Drake’s Last Adventure is a Naughty Dog master lesson on how to bring the narrative of a video game without missing a beat at any time.
Uncharted 4 is a cinematic game with a movie story. It has a script with brilliant dialogues, and that also makes use of the power of PlayStation 4 like no other. It draws photorealistic environments unthinkable for a console. It is always difficult to make a list, and much more of the best PS4 games because the bar is very high. However, the work of Naughty Dog is outstanding in almost all its sections.
6. God of War (2018) – [PS4 Exclusive]
Kratos, one of the best-known characters in the PlayStation Universe, returns with an adventure that radically changes everything seen to date. To revitalize and renew the license, the Santa Monica studio offers PlayStation 4 players a delivery that will take them to a new stage and mythology where they will live all kinds of experiences.
Also, the study has gone one step further with the God of War for PS4. They were changing the combat system, adding RPG elements, and creating a world that we could travel with total freedom. Players can participate not only in story missions but also in subsequent tests and discover all the secrets it contains. Kratos is back, and he does it with his most excellent adventure to date, making it one of the best games on PS4.
7. Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
For many, Red Dead Redemption was the best in 2018. It is a masterpiece that is already among the highest-rated games in history and one of the best long PS4 games. It has an open world as complex and full of details as the one created by Rockstar has never been projected in a video game. The creators of GTA prove to us that they are one step ahead of the rest.
In Red Dead II (prequel to the original game), gamers learn first-hand the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan. He is a member of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang.
For playing it in full swing, the duration can go beyond 65 hours. If you want more time to finish it, you still have its multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online. It promises a lot of content so you can spend months (or years) enjoying the exciting Wild West that Rockstar Games has created.
8. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
The launch of The Witcher 3 for PS4 is the discovery by the developer team that had been doing things very well in previous installments. The CD Projekt Poles did it with a sublime open-world RPG, a spectacular script with lots of literary touches, full of unforgettable characters, and some of the best side missions ever written for a video game.
The Witcher 3 is one of the best games in the world. It has superb experience for any player with dozens of hours ahead to lose themselves in a world of fantasy, magic, and sword. If you’re left wanting more, two expansions are waiting for you that add almost 50 extra hours to the main story.
