‘Resident Evil Resistance’ Open Beta Delayed For PS4 And Steam

The open beta for Resident Evil Resistance has been delayed for the PS4 and Steam.

Capcom this week announced that it has postponed the open beta for Resident Evil Resistance. Although players on PS4 and Steam are having trouble running the beta, the game has already gone live with the Xbox One X.

According to Capcom, players on PS4 and Steam have been encountering matchmaking issues and several other problems. Capcom attempted to draw up a quick fix for the issues, but a new tweet from the Resident Evil Twitter account has revealed the problems may take longer to fix.

The tweet from Resident Evil’s official account reads: “Due to technical issues, there is a delay for the RE Resistance Open Beta on PS4 and Steam. The XB1 version is unaffected and is available. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as we can and will keep you updated. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

Resident Evil Resistance is a multiplayer component set to release alongside the upcoming Resident Evil 3 Remake video game. Both games are set to release on April 3rd, 2020, but with the current problems Resistance is facing, it may be delayed if the issues are not fixed in time.

The open beta is playable for free until April 3rd and Resistance will see users play in a one versus four scenarios where four survivors must fight against a Mastermind and escape. An official description of the game reads:

“As the Mastermind, your aim is to prevent the Survivors from escaping by whatever means necessary. In turn, the Survivors must work together to fend off the Mastermind’s attacks and complete puzzle style objectives to escape the map before time runs out!”

Resident Evil 3: Everything You Need To Know

The news comes days after Capcom announced that players in the UK and EU may encounter delays in receiving physical copies of the game on release day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company also stated that retailers may face struggle receiving shipments of the game.

There’s now less than a week until Resident Evil 3 releases. The game is a reimagining of the original 1999 survival horror game and will release for the PS4, Xbox One X, and Windows PC on April 3rd.

Resident Evil 3 is set before the events of Resident Evil 2 and follows S.T.A.R.S. operative Jill Valentine and Umbrella mercenary Carlos Oliveira as they attempt to escape the zombie-infested Raccoon City while intelligent bioweapon Nemesis hunts them down.

The remake will include the third-person over-the-shoulder gameplay first featured in the Resident Evil 2 remake which launched last year. The game, although based on the 1999 version, will reportedly include some changes including more action-orientated gameplay. What’s more, character designs have been updated and the game will include new content as well as a more forgiving save system.

A demo for Resident Evil 3 is currently available for the PS4, Steam, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, Capcom continues to work on fixing Resistance’s gameplay issues.
