Upcoming Dota 2 ESL One Los Angeles Major [2020]

ESL One Los Angeles is the third Major of the 2019-20 season. After Valve announced the DPC points system instead of direct invites, Teams have to compete in the Minor and Major events to earn DPC points. They are used to determine which teams are eligible to attend the International.

This Major offers a huge amount of DPC points which might help the winner get a head start in the race towards the International. It is a very crucial tournament for all the competitors.

Location and Venue

The third Major of the season is in Los Angeles, California. The venue for the event is the beautiful Shrine Auditorium.


ESL One Los Angeles 2020 starts on March 15 and lasts until March 20, 2020. 

Prize Pool

The prize pool of the event is USD 1,000,000 and a total of 15000 DPC points, divided among the teams participating in the tournament.

Structure of ESL One Major

The general format of the Major includes:


A total of 15 teams come from the Regional Qualifiers. 

1. Three teams are invited each from Europe, China, and Southeast Asian regions, respectively

2. Two groups, each from CIS, South, and North American regions, respectively.

3. One side invited is the winner of the StarLadder imba Minor season.

Group Stage

1. During the group stage, sixteen teams are divided into a total of 4 groups, consisting of 4 teams each. 

2. All the group stage games are best of 3.

3. Top two teams from each group with most points head into the upper bracket of the playoffs.

4. Bottom two teams from each group head into the lower bracket of the playoffs.


1. Playoffs are double-elimination bracket. The loser of the upper bracket team drops, playing against the lower bracket opponent.

2. The first round of the lower bracket is the best of 1.

3. All the other except the finals are best of 3.

4. Grand Final is a best of 5.


Sixteen top teams from all across the globe were able to qualify and will be attending the ESL One Los Angeles.

It is the most significant Major event as the teams made changes in their roster. This Major will play a crucial role in nourishing the groups for the upcoming events. Teams are practicing new strategies that might surprise the opponents during the Major. Many players switched to different roles which might be exciting to watch.
