A new Prince Of Persia has been announced, only it’s going to be a VR title.
Ubisoft announced a brand new Prince Of Persia video game this week titled The Dagger Of Time. The new game will reportedly be a VR escape room set in the world of the Prince Of Persia universe.
Prince Of Persia: The Dagger Of Time is being developed by Ubisoft Düsseldorf. It will launch this Spring at over 300 locations around the world and sees the player solve puzzles to escape the Fortress of Time.
Speaking about the game in an official statement, Ubisoft said: “In the story, players are summoned by Kaileena, the Empress of Time. They are asked to help her to stop the evil plans of a Magi who is attempting to restore the sands to the Hourglass of Time and create an army of Sand Monsters.
“To successfully escape the fortress, players must use cooperative teamwork and problem-solving skills to complete objectives, utilising powers such as time control from the dagger of time.”
In addition to solving puzzles and using time control, reports have suggested that other powers will be available to use within the game. In A Q&A with Cyril Voiron, the Executive Producer for Ubisoft Escape Games, he said:
“Controlling time in VR is a one-of-a-kind experience where players will feel the power of the dagger of time in their own hands. Time control is only part of the immersion as we transport players to experience larger-than-life adventures in our games.”
Prince Of Persia: The Dagger Of Time is the latest Ubisoft VR escape room game and comes after the release Assassin’s Creed: Escape The Lost Pyramid and Assassin’s Creed: Beyond Medusa’s Gate.
A Big Promise
The news comes after Ubisoft announced earlier this month that it will be releasing five triple-A games before April 2021. The game studio announced the news in a financial call in which they revealed that three of the games will be released between October and December 2020 and the additional two launching between January and March 2021.
Ubisoft has confirmed three of the five games; Watch Dogs Legion, Gods And Monsters, and Rainbow Six Quarantine. According to leaks and rumours, the other two games are a Vikings-themed Assassin’s Creed and a Far Cry sequel.
Fans have pointed out that Assassin’s Creed games usually drop before Christmas so it’s likely that one of three games to drop this year will be the rumours Vikings-themed game. Meanwhile, Far Cry games have a history of dropping at the beginning of the year, which means the rumours Far Cry 6 may be a 2021 title.
Watch Dogs Legion will likely be one of the games to drop in the second half of this year as the game was announced back at E3 2019 and was set for a March 2020 release before being delayed to later this year.
We can expect more news from Ubisoft later this year as the game firm is among the list of exhibitors set to appear at E3 2020.
