Two New Silent Hill Games Are In Development, New Report Claims

Two brand new Silent Hill games are reportedly in development, a new report has claimed.

Reputable leaker AestheticGamer claimed on Twitter that game publisher Konami reached out to various developers about pitches for new Silent Hill games and two were reportedly picked up.

According to AestheticGamer, one of the two games will act as a reboot while the other will be a game similar to Until Dawn and will act as a companion to the reboot. AestheticGamer said in their tweet:

“In other news, while I’m dropping this stuff, and I think I can talk about this, I’ll mention there is a couple new Silent Hill games in the works. Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic TellTale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot.”

They added: “I don’t know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami’s given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed.”

In a second tweet, AestheticGamer suggested that one of the games may be revealed this year, writing: “This is just a guess, but I’d say there’s a high chance one or both of those titles may be revealed this year, but we’ll see.

“I don’t actually know their plans or anything about these games other than their existence though, I don’t know much about the inner workings of Konami.”

The Silent Hill Franchise

The last main Silent Hill game released was 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour, the eighth instalment in the franchise which followed Murphy Pendleton, a prisoner who was left stranded in Silent Hill after his prison transport vehicle crashed.

Sony Computer Entertainment released a playable demo in 2014 of a game titled P.T. (Playable Teaser) which was revealed to be a new Silent Hill game named Silent Hills. The project was being developed by Kojima Productions as a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro with actor Norman Reedus.

However, the project was cancelled and P.T. removed from the PlayStation Store. Hideo Kojima, meanwhile, moved on to his PlayStation exclusive game Death Stranding.

The rumours have not yet been confirmed nor debunked by Konami and so should be considered only as rumours. The supposed games join a series of other video games that are rumoured but have yet to be officially announced.

In November, reports suggested that a brand new Crash Bandicoot game is being developed following the success of remakes Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.

A new Batman game by Warner Bros. Montreal is reportedly in development. The game, titled Batman: Arkham Legacy, will focus on the famous Court Of Owls Batman story and has been teased for several years.

With two next-generation consoles on the horizon, we may eventually see these rumours games officially announced along with a slew of other games.
