Razer DeathAdder v2

You’ve got your gaming rig set up and now lack a mouse. How much do you prioritize spending on the mouse? Do you think it’s important or a cheap mouse will do just fine too? If you are a casual gamer then maybe you may cut corners and save some cash by buying a cheaper mouse. That will drop your gaming experience low as cheaper mice tend to stop working easily and the ergonomics are not quite on point either.

As a hardcore gamer or a professional player, you know that a good gaming mouse makes all the difference when aiming at your opponent. The matter of milliseconds decides your victory or defeat. For precise accuracy and movement, you need a good gaming mouse that has the best ergonomics that don’t tire your hand or arm and has an accuracy that will give you an edge in your game.

There are tons of mice on the market as of now. Many of them are similar to each other in terms of specs and ergonomics. The difference can be seen in the long term. You can either experiment by buying cheaper mice from a new brand or you can spend a little extra and buy mice from a reputable brand. We always recommend buying from a reputable brand as they have a reputation to maintain and won’t sell something that consumer’s dislike.

Introducing the Razer DeathAdder v2

Razer is well known for producing top tier gaming hardware. It’s been selling their products for years now. They have built quite a strong reputation in the eyes of professional gamers. They always are keen on producing the best hardware.

Razer this year has released not one but two new gaming mice. The Razer Basilisk v2 and the Razer DeathAdder v2. If you are using Razer products for a long time then you should know the DeathAdder quite well as it was very famous. The first version of DeathAdder had sold about 10 million units.

Razer has iterated on that and created version 2 of it. It has improved design and hardware. The hardware has improved in terms of sensors, buttons, wire, etc. This is directly targeted at old DeathAdder users as well as new buyers. The design language of the Basilisk is a bit overkill and might not be for some people. The design language of the DeathAdder is simple. Let’s talk about it.

Design and Aesthetics

The Razer DeathAdder v2 carries the same simple and minimalist design language of its older version. The ergonomics are the same too. They are on point and the mouse feels very comfortable in your hands. You can go for long gaming sessions without the fear of your hands or arms getting fatigued. It is optimal for a firm palm grip.

The right side of the mouse is slightly tweaked. They have just slightly changed the shape specifically on the top right side of the mouse. It is the optimal shape for small hands. People with big hands won’t even notice the difference between v1 and v2 of DeathAdder.

In a nutshell, it feels comfortable in your hands. The design can be called ambidextrous but some might argue that it’s for right-handed users. Well, it is pretty symmetric and can be used by both hands.

Switches

Razer DeathAdder uses optical switches. They differ greatly from traditional switches as these use infrared rays to register a click and send the message of a registered click. With this, the button does not need to physically strike to register a click. The response time is a staggering 0.2 milliseconds.

That is much faster than traditional switches. Another functionality is that these switches prevent accidental clicks. Ultimately they give you more control and flawless execution during your gameplays. It’s got a total of 8 buttons which are programmable through the synapse software.

Sensor

The sensor is also improved and now has a maximum DPI of 20,000. The accuracy rate of this new sensor is mind-blowing 99.6%. With this, you are sure to point accurately at your target. Professional players can benefit the most as with improved accuracy, you can get the kill to win you the game.

The sensor is an asymmetric cut-off. It’s got motion sync and a tracking speed of 650 IPS. Don’t get confused with the technical stuff. In a nutshell, this sensor is one of the best on the market right now. Paired with an excellent ergonomic design, you can’t go wrong with this mouse.

Cable

The cable quality has also been improved as the cable is usually the most common thing to break. With the new Speedflex cable, the mouse is sure to last long. The longevity and life span has increased with the updated wire quality.

Mouse Feet

The mouse feet have also been upgraded and now use PTFE material that ensures to give you a smooth flow on any surface. With such a smooth flow, you can accurately control your shots to win the game.

On-Board Memory

For the first time, a Razer mouse houses onboard memory. What this does is that you can save your personalized settings directly on your mouse instead of saving them on synapse software. To configure the settings you would have to use the synapse software but after that, all the settings will be saved on the onboard memory and you can delete synapse.

Weight

This is another distinguishing feature as the DeathAdder comes at 82 grams without using the honeycomb design that many other manufacturers use to lower the weight of their mice. The older versions got quite heavy as they reached 100+ grams. With the latest DeathAdder, they’ve managed to reach 82 grams.

Final Verdict

For someone who has previously used a DeathAdder, this is the perfect upgrade. If you are new to gaming, this is also a perfect mouse for you to start with. All in all, Razer has taken the top tier hardware and packed it into an ergonomic body that is relatively light-weight.
