Chinese handset maker Vivo which might be alien to a lot of users in the west but it is fairly popular in parts of Asia has expanded its X series smartphone line up with the launch of Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro in its home country. The successor to the Vivo X27 series, Vivo X30 series seems to live up to the expectations of being an affordable flagship smartphones with its exciting features as 60x digital zoom, a minuscule hole-punch camera, 5G support, etc. Also, the new Vivo X30 and X30 Pro not only bring advanced cameras but also use Samsung chipsets and an integrated 5G modem.
Although the Vivo X30 Pro and Vivo X30 differ in terms of camera specifications but have lots of other specs in common. Talking about the similarities first, the dual-SIM Vivo X30 5G and Vivo X30 Pro 5G run on Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 9.0 and feature a 6.44-inch full-HD + (1080×2400 pixels) Super AMOLED display. The phones are powered by the Exynos 980 octa-core SoC, paired with 8GB RAM. Internal storage is in 128GB and 256GB options. Both Vivo X30 5G and Vivo X30 Pro 5G both measure 158.45×74.10×8.80mm, and weigh 196.5 grams.
In terms of optics, the superior of the two – the Vivo X30 Pro – comes with a quad-camera setup on the back including a 64MP primary camera, a 13MP periscopic telephoto setup with up to 5X hybrid and 60X digital zoom, a 32MP camera with a 50mm focal length for depth sensing and better quality portraits, and lastly an 8MP wide-angle sensor. Also it additionally has a LASER auto-focus on the camera module for faster and more accurate focusing.
On the other hand, the Vivo X30 differs; it comes with a triple-rear-camera setup without a dedicated telephoto camera. This means the zooming capabilities are limited to 20X but buyers will be able to capture DSLR-quality portrait shots, as claimed, and capture a 112º wide field of view with the dedicated 8MP camera just like the Vivo X30 Pro.
For selfie, the phones sport a 32-megapixel camera with f/2.45 aperture. Camera features for both include super night scene, 50mm portrait mode, slow motion, time-lapse photography, filters, dynamic photos, HDR, AI beauty, panoramic photography, 4K video, and more.
The Vivo X30 series comes in three attractive colours – whitish silver, peach, and black – all of which have a reflective gradient surface on the back. The two smartphones come with 4350mAh batteries and support Vivo’s Flash Charge technology with a fast charging rate of 33W. The phones support Face Unlock and also the in-display fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, WI-FI 802.11 ac, 5G, more. Sensors on board include gravity sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and electronic compass.
Now coming to the pricing of these two handsets in their respective in the home market, the Vivo X30 5G has a price in China of CNY 3,298 for the 8GB + 128GB model and CNY 3,598 for the 8GB + 256GB storage model. The phone will go on sale from December 28. Advance reservations are now available, and Vivo offers a free headset as an incentive. Whereas, the Vivo X30 Pro 5G, is priced at CNY 3,998 for the 8GB + 128GB model and CNY 4,298 for the 8GB + 256GB model. The phone will go on sale on December 24. Advance reservations for the Pro model are also available, and Vivo also offers a Bluetooth headset here.
