Samsung Unpacked event launch date has allegedly been leaked. The Samsung Galaxy S11 series was already expected to launch next year in February and now the exact date has been tipped. This piece of information comes from noted leaker @UniverseIce, who suggests the Galaxy S11 and also the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will release on February 18 at an event in San Francisco, USA. If the rumoured launch date turns out to be true, then the Galaxy S11 Series and Galaxy Fold 2 will be official before the Mobile World Congress which is scheduled from 24th February to 27th February 2020. However, the leaked date seems highly plausible, as the Galaxy S10 family and the Galaxy Fold launched on February 21st, 2019.
As we come closer to the launch, more details surrounding the Galaxy S11 have been coming to light. Recent leaks have hinted at a 108MP primary camera sensor 1/1.33-inch ISOCELL Bright HMX image sensor for the primary camera along with a 5x telephoto lens, ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3D time-of-flight camera and 120Hz display. This suggests that the S11 will sport quad rear cameras, but previous renders suggested a penta camera setup. Talking about the Plus variant, Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus is said to flaunt a 6.9-inch curved Dynamic AMOLED display and the resolution is expected to be QHD+ and a massive 5000 mAh battery. The Galaxy S11 Plus is also said to sport a centred punch-hole camera and regarding the button placement, the power button, and volume buttons are said to be at the left edge and speakers to the bottom edge of the smartphone.
It’s also pretty much a given that the Galaxy S11 will be among the first Android smartphones to be powered by Qualcomm’s brand-new flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC, which is paired with the Snapdragon X55 for 5G connectivity. However, the report claims that the Galaxy S11 next year will integrate the Snapdragon 865 SoC in most markets, and only select markets will get the Exynos SoC. The report notes that only the Europe region will get the Exynos SoC integrated, while the rest should get Snapdragon 865 SoC.
As for the Galaxy Fold 2, this device is expected to arrive at half the price of its $1,980 predecessor. It will also allegedly adopt a new portrait-style clamshell form-factor more akin to the new Motorola Razr. However, what kind of hardware will power the smartphone is still unknown. Maybe Samsung will go with something like the Snapdragon 765 or another mid-range Snapdragon 700-Series SoC with a MediaTek 5Gmodem.
The most awaited Galaxy S11 will be the natural successor to the Galaxy S10 series and we expect to see three models in the line up – Galaxy S11e, Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11 Plus. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Fold successor with a clamshell design could also be announced at the same event. So let’s expect the leaks on both the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy Fold 2 to accelerate as we all approach towards the New Year 2020.
