A new leak has confirmed the release of a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
The cover art and a selection of images of the remake of the 1999 survival horror game have leaked online on the PlayStation Store, finally confirming the release of the game after months of rumours and speculation.
The cover art was first spotted on Gamstat, a website which tracks additions to the PlayStation Store. The art leaked depicts the standard version of the game, the Japanese version (Titled Biohazard: Last Escape) and what looks like a special edition titled Z Version.
The images, which were later posted on Twitter by user Nibellion, depict the game’s main villain Nemesis as well as the title’s lead characters Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira, both of which have been restyled and modernised.
Rumours of the game began to appear this year along with speculation of a 2020 release date. And a remake of the game doesn’t come as a surprise after the success of Resident Evil 7 and the recent remake of Resident Evil 2.
The leak has now sparked speculation that the Resident Evil 3 remake will be announced at the Game Awards later this month on December 12th. All signs do post to a release date next year, but we’ll have to wait until the game’s official announcement to find out when in 2020.
Upcoming Game Announcements
If the rumours are correct, the Resident Evil 3 remake won’t be the only game announced at the upcoming Game Awards 2019, an event that is dedicated to celebrating gaming achievements and the announcement of new titles.
We previously reported that Warner Bros. Montreal may be unveiling its next Batman game Batman: Arkham Legacy at the Game Awards 2019. Rumours of Montreal’s next Batman game have been circulating for years, with fans speculating that the game could be based on the Court Of Owls storyline from the Batman comics.
It’s also rumoured that FromSoftware’s upcoming game Elden Ring will be shown at the event following its announcement back in July at E3. First details of the game have also reportedly been leaked, suggesting the title will feature Souls inspired combat as well as unique abilities integrated into combos.
Meanwhile, a more recent leak has suggested that a sequel to the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 exclusive may be just around the corner. Imran Khan revealed in his Kinda Funny podcast that a sequel to the 2017 video game “will come sooner than we think”.
Khan also mentioned a “Christmas 2021” release date, which marks a year after the PlayStation 5’s supposed release date. Other games rumours to be released around the PlayStation 5’s launch include a sequel to God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn.
However, all these leaks are pure speculation and we will have to wait until December 2nd before hearing news of Elden Ring, Batman: Arkham Legacy and Resident Evil 3. For the other games, well, we won’t hear about them for several more months.
