Twitter releases its desktop app for macOS Catalina based on Catalyst framework

Twitter for Mac

You must be aware that a new version of macOS was released by Apple a few days ago. This new version of macOS is named as macOS Catalina and it is also known that this version will serve as a foundation for Catalyst. Now, you may have heard about Apple’s plans to one do run Mac apps on their iPad and iOS devices while running iOS apps on Mac.

While this might be somewhat far away, we do know that running iPadOS apps on macOS might soon become a reality. This is because the first app which is based on the Catalyst framework present inside macOS Catalina is here. We can also say that this app is ported from the iPadOS as it looks mostly similar. We are talking right now about the official Twitter app for Mac as per The Verge’s report as the company already announced at the WWDC 2019.

At first, you will see the official Twitter app running on your Mac and feel like you are using Twitter’s desktop site but it is a native site which means that you can install it and open it directly from the panel. Apart from that, there is a ‘create tweet’ button at the top to directly access that setting which is not available if you browse Twitter’s website. While Twitter has released its official app based on Catalyst, Netflix is not so enthusiastic about it which means that its native Mac app might not come anytime soon.

Also worth noting is the fact that you are not allowed to use more than five accounts in the official Twitter app for Mac so if you have more than five accounts running then you will have to look elsewhere. This usually happens when you are working in the digital marketing space and you have multiple accounts to handle.
